Sydney trip 2009

well ignoring my previous mumbling.. haha! i shall talk about my sydney trip.. on the early morning of good friday i was all packed with my stuff and ready to go to sydney... been doing research and stuff about sydney so i had a rough idea where to go.. but cause it was my first time, i was quite greedy in the number of places i wanna go.. haha! sadly was our plane was delayed for ages and we waited at the airport for at least one hour.. wasted our precious time!! oh yea this trip i went with wilson and lucy and also another primary schoolmate from brisbane, adrian.

after we touched down at the airport, i was feeling bit warm and stuffy! the weather was so different from melb's.. anyway we took a cab to the city and unlike melb, their airport was pretty close to city, only took about 15 mins or so.. as we checked in to YHA Central, the room was fairly clean and comfy and it was cheap! 40 plus per night for a person. by the time we settled in, it was already around 4pm.. we lost almost a day for the flight.. sigh! then we headed to chinatown to walk around. and fortunately there was a night market thing there! it was like at petaling street in kl! the chinatown area was really big and very asian feel. lots of asians everywhere! i was quite shocked! haha! i had some light food there and also a very nice sugarcane drink! after that we went over to walk around darling harbour.. too bad it was already dark that time, and i didn't get a good view of the place.. but the night view was rather different, nice place tho! then we were stucked with a street performance which a japanese guy performed some random show.. haha! it was kinda interesting! after that we had dinner at hurricane bar and grill.. the ribs and steak there was superb! super delicious and very big serving! with the night view outside, and good food, that's definately a nice place to try out. we were lucky to have the window seats.. awesome experience! after such a big meal, we walked all the way to star city, the sydney's casino. maybe cause it was public holiday, the casino was all packed with ppl.. and i should say crown casino in melb is still the best! haha.. they do give out 10 dollars credit for joining in their membership but need to wait for 24 hours. too bad we didn't get to enjoy that credit. haha! i was tempted to play but i ended up didn't.. :P then we walked all the way back to central.. it was indeed a long walk and we were all exhausted by the time we reached back. haha!

the next day we went to blue mountains. it was a last minute decision as the weather turned out to be alright despite the weather report we had before was showing that it was gonna have thunderstorms. it took us 2 hours to reach katoomba by train. and also to mention that the train was double decker.. how cool was that. haha! when we reached there, we took the explorer bus around the place. as we arrived there at around noon time, we had limited time to go around the place, cause there was like 20 plus spots to go around the area. we took a pick and went to a few spots only. one was the katoomba falls. the view there was awesome.. i'm a fan of waterfalls. haha! then we took the prince henry walk that took us around 20 mins or more to arrive at the scenic world, too bad we didn't have enough time to go for the cable ride. the walk was great, something like the mt kinabalu climb. we were in the forest and with tall trees around.. then we went to this lookout that overview the whole katoomba falls and three sisters. awesome! took quite alot of photos there. and then it was drizzling a bit along the way. after that we took the explorer bus to echo point where the home of the three sisters. well that was a nice one! and u know wat? i actually bumped into one of my junior, gosh! that was like so lucky! haha! she's also from melb.

oh yea do you know blue mountains are blue? well the blue haze, unique to blue mountains, is of a different hue and deeper than anywhere in the world. it is caused primarily by Eucalyptus trees emitting oil vapour into the atmosphere which along with fine dust particles and droplets of water vapour, scatter the blue light more than any other colour in the spectrum. there you go! haha!

after that we went back to katoomba village and headed to papagino's to have some pizzas. the pizza was pretty good! the restaurant had won rewards before! but we were not allowed to take photos there.. lol.. and the thing is that i was having upset stomach that time.

huh..it was raining heavily that time.. luckily we had our umbrellas.. the rain was more like the ones we have in malaysia. so we went to chill out in a second hand books and antiques shop. it was such an interesting experience cause the shop was full with british style of antiques and books.. the books that we used to read.. wow! haven't seen that for ages. will show you some photos of it later. then we headed back to syd city. we met up with phil and rachel for dinner at bbq king. which is well known of their roasts. and to be honest, it was so so.. not too special for me i would say. but do you know that they have models to promote their shop. they had posters of models in the shop. something i haven't seen before. haha! so that was our first two days.. to be continued..
