winter is coming!

since winter is coming, there's heaps of information telling us how to look after our skin. well since i'm not that young anymore, need to start to look after our skin! therefore i've found some notes to remind myself..^^ if not for your reference.. haha!

Caring for your skin
Avoid diuretic beverages such as coffee and wine.
Protect your lips with a SPF 30+ lip balm.
Drink a minimum of eight glasses of water each day.
Wear protective clothes, including a hat, gloves, scarf and sunglasses.
Don't sit too close to heaters.
Eat a diet rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals.

When temperatures drop, so do the moisture levels in your skin. To avoid dry, tight and prematurely aged skin, moisturise twice a day. This helps to lock in nutrients and retain moisture. Apply a light moisturiser under your make-up each morning. After cleansing at night apply a rich-emulsion night cream.L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Night Cream is enriched with pro-retinol A, a powerful anti-wrinkle agent which helps stimulate skin regeneration. It also contains elastin to replenish the skin's depleted supply, RRP $29.95.Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser contains pro-vitamin B5 to restore, soften and smooth and vitamin E to moisturise. It's easily absorbed and acts as a base under make-up. Suitable for all skin types, RRP $10.95.

Hands are constantly in the line of battle. Moisturise at least twice a day and avoid hot water, harsh cleaning products and detergents.Nivea Hand SOS Intensive Balm contains an effective combination of glycerine, panthenol and calendula oil that instantly relieves dry and chapped hands. It also provides a long-lasting smoothing effect and protects against further moisture loss, RRP $5.50.Aveeno Active Naturals Intense Relief Hand Cream contains natural oatmeal and rich emollients that help soothe and moisturise your hands for 24 hours, RRP $9.95.

Body - Extreme weather, frequent bathing and the drying effects of home heating and air conditioning strip the skin of natural oils and moisture. Replenish and condition your body, including your feet, once a day with a nourishing lotion, or add oil to your bathwater. Bathe in warm water only, as hot water dehydrates the skin.Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion with vitamin E melts into the skin and softens, smoothes and gives relief, RRP $12.95.Bio-Oil can be added to bathwater or massaged into the skin, RRP $14.95.

Hair - Protect your hair from drying winds and extreme temperature changes with an oil treatment such as Alberto VO5 Hot Oil Anti-Frizz. It helps fortify hair against breakage and splitting, while UV filters help guard against environmental damage. Massage into hair for one minute while showering. It protects hair for up to four washes, RRP $4.99.
