City Romp-ing..

the other day i joined the melbourne city romp. it's a charity event organised by the burnet institute. it's something like amazing race where you go to places to look for some clue and then head to the next destination everywhere in melbourne city. i've joined it before the year before and we were alot more organised on the techniques to play. alot of walking, looking for answers, brain squeeze for IQ questions, photo snapping and enjoying the game.

our question sheet.. looks easy yea? but lots of walking there..

our team.. after our first attempt before that, we've learned to enjoy the game and snapped more photos throughout the game..

melbourne uni building.. somehow i love the lightings here..

Chap Goh Mei..

last week was chinese chap goh mei and it was the last day of the chinese new year celebration. i had a gathering at my house, dad cooked some dishes and i also made some puff pastries. my friends also brought over some food. it was a feast and we all had lots of fun. it was nice catching up with friends and having bit more cny feel. i miss the gamble part though. i have a new toy at home now, wii! and we were playing mario.. it felt like going back to my childhood times. but honestly i'm not in playing games at all. the little mushroom with one life left, it was me. haha!

a day out at brighton beach..

today is australia day and it's public holiday! enjoyed myself on this special public holiday. i went to brighton beach and also hampton beach for bbq with a few friends. it's sort of a tradition for australians to have bbqs on australia day. not sure for what reason is that. we reached the bbq place early, around 10.30am. so it was rather quiet at that time. and off we started cooking sausages, lamb cutlets, prawn kebabs, chicken wings, and bread with onions. they all tasted really delicious cause they were marinated overnight. awesome!

by noon time, there were alot of people around the place! and it was getting hot as well. we were all full and satisfied. later we went for a walk along the beach and hang around there for a while. just sitting there, enjoying the moment, relaxing, chit chatting, taking photos and having sun tanned too! surprisingly i was all tired when i got home and actually fell asleep for two hours! i had a great day. happy australia day!

Mornington day trip..

i just started back to work after my long holidays.. and i find it extremely hard to get back the working mode. i'm trying my best on that. anyways with my holidays, i went to point nepean at mornington peninsula and it was such a nice place. went there with dear, richard, sis and my cousin dylon. lucky us that the weather was good that day. i guess i just miss going out of the city once in a while. richard was the photographer for the day and we had a few nice photos. love it! even took photo with my polaroid camera and it was pretty. the colour tone was really nice. we took a bus into the national park and walked back to the carpark which was 3.5km away. good exercise with nice view. =D

we also went to the montalto vineyard and olive grove. it was also a lovely place with different artistic sculpture around the area. we took a walk around the vineyard and also took some nice photos there. of course thanks to richard again. we wanted to have lunch at the montalto restaurant which is one of the top reviewed restaurant. but unfortunately you need to book a table to dine there. i guess it was holiday season and everywhere is packed with people. and so we went to sunny ridge strawberry farm for lunch dessert. still happy for that cause i just can't get enough of the strawberry desserts there. had a really awesome day with nice food, nice view, nice photos and of course dearest people.

lazy saturday..

my lazy worm is really active today.. as soon as i woke up, i didn't feel like doing anything and i was only staring at the ceiling with my blank mind.. luckily jen called in.. haha! but at the moment, i still don't feel like doing anything but just hanging around in my bed and with my laptop in front of me. i have lots to do, some cleaning, some tidying and most importantly i need to study! but looks like it's all set aside for me. it's really not often for me to stay in my bed with the nice weather outside and i could just do nothing. well i decided to do some update about me here.

i had a nice dinner with my all gals collegues after work last night. at a greek restaurant called stalactites along lonsdale street. it's one of an award winning restaurant for 2008. we headed there as soon as we finished work and the restaurant was already full with people. luckily we didn't need to wait for long to get a table. they don't take bookings if we are less than 10 or something like that. anyways we tried their pita bread with mixed dips, mixed platter and also a greek garden salad. i love the pita bread alot, it's so much different from the ones that we have outside, it was delicious and match it with the dips and meat, it was awesome.. the mixed platter has chicken, beef and also lamb. i personally like the chicken ones, cause the beef and lamb was a bit too dry for me. overall it was a meaty dinner, it was good that we had a plate of salad. haha! i wanted to try their dessert but i was too full by the end of the dinner. too bad! will go and try there again. next time will bring dear to the restaurant, and prob try the souvalki. wanted to take photos with my collegues but they all ran away when i took out my phone. haha! so only took photos of the food.. i had a great night out with them last night.

mt dandenong

i've been a bit laid back this week. so didn't really write much here and in fact i didn't go online after coming back from work. cause my eyes tends to get really tired after a whole day of work in front of the computer. anyway i still insisted to write about my short visit to my dandenong last saturday. haha! a couple of my friends headed to mt dandenong cause one of our friends is going back to malaysia soon and she hadn't been there before. we arrived there during noon time so we went to miss marple to have lunch. but as usual, we had to wait for a table there. so we went over to the tea house next door. they have so many varities of teas. from fruit teas, classic teas, chinese tea to japanese tea. i bought some jasmine chrysantemun tea to try out. it's like a flower bud and putting in the hot water, it would blossom into a nice flower. haha! interesting one. hope it tastes good too!back to the restaurant, i had their lunch special, fish and chips. for dessert, we shared a belgium waffle and their well known scones. the scones are just soft and tastes awesome with their strawberry jam and cream. hmmmm... even just thinking about it, it makes me crave of it. haha! anyway it's a must try in mt dandenong. after a long lunch there, we went to skyhigh mt dandenong. it's a place where you can see the whole melbourne view. they have a very nice restaurant there too. we headed there to have a look at the view. but it was freezing cold up there. haha! so i didn't enjoy much of the scenery.. i was shivering... ><

i love going to mt dandenong once in a while. it's a quiet small town there and with the lovely scenery, fresh air and mouth watering food, it just feels good to be there. can go for hiking there too. only tried once before tho.

busy week!

well i had a super busy week. also busy during the weekend. at work, i was learning the receptionist work, assignments like helping a new company to register with ASIC, a government sector to apply for companies, applying for ABN and GST and so on, applying for trust, stamping trust deed at the state revenue office, dealing with more clients at the front desk. sounds all technical.. haha! but it was interesting to learn all of them.

after such hectic week, i was so looking forward to the weekend for some rest. however it's different when you have two friends having their birthdays. on friday night after work, i headed to myer to shop around and fyi, myer in the city had a massive renovation and it's all so luxurious and classy. with the cosmetics department, great lightings and new modern look. and even better is that they are having the mid year sale! really tempting place to shop. haha! tempting but i have even greater mission. come back to that in a while. anyway after that i was waiting outside of myer to meet up with some friends that were going for dinner together. i was sitting at the bench with a guy next to me. and the next thing i realised he was having an argument with his girlfriend who was late for their date. i know it's not nice to eavesdrop on other ppl's conversation but i was sitting there. so i overheard their argument. both of them were indians, so they did use their language to argue but also in english. then this guy was complaining how he waited for her and he even complained over small things and how he had changed since he got together with her and so on. and the gal was also arguing and defending herself about the issues. well at some point, i almost wanna stood up and tell them to chill down. haha! of course i didn't do so.. but it was kinda sad to see how they argue and stuff. i would have to say it's never nice to argue with your beloved ppl around you, no matter for whatever reason it is, altho i have to admit that i do so too. ^^ so the moral of the story is that we should calm down ourselves to think before starting an argument with your loved ones.

anyway back to my dinner, haha! i met up with my friends and we went to federation square for a restaurant called feddish. the design of the restaurant was pretty nice, cosy and with warm lightings, not too bright and just a nice place to catch up with a few friends and have some nice food. however, the restaurant is famous of having slow service. hmm.. not so good as we were all starving by then. luckily i did manage to eat a sushi before that. i ordered a grilled fish of the day which was marlin and with salad. not too big serve, so i was probably only around 60% full. haha! but the taste itself was pretty good, with the moisture and sourness of the salad. my friends ordered others like salmon, lamb shanks, linguine, pizza and chicken. not many choices on their menus, but i would assume they are looking on quality more than quantity. overall, it was quite a nice place to try out except would be great if they could have quick service. after dinner we headed home to have shower before heading to friend place to cut cake at midnight. it was a tiring day for me.

on saturday i had some time to chill out at home, but sadly i woke up at 8.30am on a saturday morning! i had a dream that i was at work before i woke up and i couldn't get back to sleep. sigh.. so i did some washings and facebooking and bits and pieces of houseworks. haha! went out for dinner at springvale for another friend's birthday. then headed to sing k in the city for the whole night. huh! i have to say that i'm getting not used to staying up late. haha! below are photos of my grilled fish i had at feddish and the second one is the salmon that other friend had. looks yummy... ^_^

Weekend..

well on sunday i went for badminton as usual, altho i've missed it last week. hehe! the weather is getting cooler at the moment, so in order for me to sweat, it takes up more effort to move around, so i did play more, putting more effort to sweat.. felt good after that. ^^ after badminton, we would go for lunch, and normally i'll be seriously starving by then. haha! then i went to city to pick up some stuff. the thing is during my way to the city, there was a small incident happened in the train. i was in the first cabin of the train and normally disabled ppl would get into that cabin. there was a disabled on wheelchair came into the train. he had difficulties to control his movement and verbally as well. there was a couple kept on teasing and laughing or i should say more like insulting the disabled guy. OMG! that is so so so..can't even find a word to describe it!i was alone at that time so i didn't dare to speak out. but i seriously felt so bad for the disabled guy. that stupid, idiotic and ironic couple!shame on them! i always thought that disabled ppl in australia are well treated. i used to work with the clayton rsl restaurant, and i did come across with celebrations and parties sponsored by certain organisations for the disabled ppl.they really look after for the welfare of the disabled ppl. oh well, that shows how ugly it is in some part of the society.

on monday i went to city to meet up with frankie and ck, my ex-schoolmates. old friends indeed.^^ we went to lygon street to have some nice pasta and pizza. frankie is a make-up artist, who came over to melb to attend the loreal melbourne fashion festival. of course, i got to grab some tips from him about make-up. talking about make-up, well ppl who knows me well should know that i barely have make-up on during normal days. hmm.. there's a saying, there's no gals who are ugly, but only gals who are lazy. i'm one of the lazy gal i think. haha! and also with my eczema skin problem, i'm rather sensitive with using skin products. have to use fragrance free, alcohol free type of products. that's why in terms of picking make-up products and facial products, it's rather hard task for me. =P but remember i've got some tips from frankie. will improve myself in that matter. haha! important is to be healthy.. well here's some photos that ck and i took when we sent off frankie to docklands for the runway show for the fest. nice deco with sparkly background..

that's the make-up artist all the way from brissie! haha! well at night we went to glen waverley and tried out a newly opened hakka restaurant and as you can see from the photos above, we had two dishes and it was really yummy. suprisingly. haha! nice day hanging out with old friends..
